For seven decades, Radio Plovdiv has been more than a frequency on the air — it has been the voice of Plovdiv and the region: clear, free, and responsible. The film follows the journey of a regional radio station that not only informs, but also cultivates — taste, thought, and a critical attitude toward the world. In the era of algorithms and fake news, Radio Plovdiv remains an island of verified facts and journalistic integrity. Through the stories of people who have worked at the radio over the years, the film shows how Radio Plovdiv has built trust, preserved identity, and fostered media literacy — something more important today than ever. Because in a world where truth is traded for attention, a regional radio station continues to speak clearly.

The author of the film is Mihail Kosev — a journalist and film director, born in Plovdiv and raised in the United States. He graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2007 with a degree in film and television production. Since the rise of social media, he has focused his work on online content, combining a documentary perspective with contemporary formats. For the past three years, he has been part of the team at BNR Radio Plovdiv, where he has created dozens of video reports to date. The project “70 Years of Radio Plovdiv” is especially important to him because it gives him the opportunity to pay tribute to the legacy of his colleagues and to a prestigious media institution.
