Zhanna, a single mother from Tbilisi, becomes a surrogate mother to secure a better life for her daughter. At first, it seems like a solution, but the money is quickly spent, and repeated pregnancies take a toll on her health. The film follows the painful choices of a woman forced to trade her body in a world that exploits her desperation.

Ketevan Vashagashvili is a Chevening scholar with a Master’s degree in Arts and a diploma in Documentary Filmmaking from the University of Sussex. She has 12 years of experience in Georgian television and online platforms as a director and producer of documentary films and series. “9-Month Contract” is her feature-length documentary debut.
