Father and son poets embark on a humorous and bittersweet journey to uncover what hides between the lines of their relationship while exploring their bloodline and an old family myth about a possible kinship with the Hollywood legend. As they piece together their family tree, a colorful collage of characters emerges – a traveling librarian, an elderly farmer, a Croatian John Malkovich lookalike, and people from around the world who share his surname.

LUKA MAVRETIC has published poetry in leading Croatian literary magazines and won two poetry awards. His debut play Magda Bonsai was followed by Something Like a Bus, shortlisted for the 2016 Marin Držić Award. He regularly performs poetry in Croatia and abroad, with his works translated into several languages. Being Related to John Malkovich is his feature film debut.
