The film explores the theme of love and its manifestations, which are sometimes strange and inexplicable. Maximilian tells the ailing Maria about his childhood and his falling in love with a beautiful statue. Its loss has affected his entire life. Deprived of any musical ability, watchmaker Philip enters a music competition to marry his beloved. In order to win, he has to build an extraordinary machine.

SOTIR GELEV was born in Asenovgrad in 1960. In 1982, he made ‘The Chicken’, an animated film shown later at the 1984 Berlinale and, in the same year, he won a Golden Dove in Leipzig. He is an illustrator and writer of comics, a TV and film director and producer; the author of the books ‘Casual Conversation’ and ‘Elijah, August and Gergin’, and the poetry anthology, ‘Afternoon Meatball’. He lives and works in Sofia.
