Paintings, performances, experiments, electronic music being played inside two ancient houses in a small Italian town, heated conversations about contemporary art, touching encounters with the closest people and places in Bulgaria after fifty years of separation. ‘Flying with Fins’ is a film about the constant search for meaning in art and life. Alzek Misheff, artist-rebel and experimenter, leads us in this philosophical and aesthetic journey through time, space and ideas.

MARIA AVERINA graduated in Film and TV Direction from the New Bulgarian University. She is an alumnus of the 2010 Sarajevo Talent Campus, the 2013 Berlinale Talent Campus, and gained her Master’s degree in Documentary by Practice at Royal Holloway, University of London. She won the Bulgarian Film Academy’s Best Documentary Film Award for her full-length debut, ‘From Cremona to Cremona’.
