“Researchers at the End of the World” explores life in Antarctica through the eyes of the scientists of the 33rd Antarctic expedition on Livingston Island. In a year of intense solar activity, they closely observe how glaciers react and how conditions shift in this fragile border between ocean and ice. The filmmakers accompany the researchers into glacier crevasses, documenting the challenges of conducting measurements in extreme conditions. The film reveals captivating aspects of life amid ice — from seabirds traveling immense distances, to microbial communities, to lichens that synthesize substances offering hope for treating neurodegenerative diseases.

ARA HUGASYAN is a musician at heart and a graduate of the National Academy of Music “Pancho Vladigerov.” He works at BNT and has participated in numerous productions as an editing director.
