“Fate As Jazz” is a tribute to Vasil Parmakov, also known as Parmaka — a jazz musician, composer, and writer who left behind remarkable music and many devoted admirers. The filmmakers’ intention is to portray what an extraordinary person Parmakov was: a man who refused to come to terms with vulgarity and yet created magic on stage — without limitations. An experimenter who knew how to bring out the very best in every instrument. An improviser who followed his own rules and forged a powerful bond with the musicians on stage.
The documentary narrative begins with rehearsals, moves through the small moments of magic that occur between musicians, and reaches the miracle of the live concert itself, proving that jazz is the destiny from which a talent like Parmaka cannot escape.
