A documentary showing the challenges to the conservation of Bulgaria’s Atanasovo Lake, one of the pivotal biodiversity hotspots in the Black Sea region, ‘Salty People’ presents the over-100-year history of the coastal lagoon through the stories of four environmentalists from the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation, with salt, birds, and people being at the centre of the film.
ALEXANDRA VAL is a Bulgarian film director, screenwriter, and producer. Her creative biography includes the Bulgarian adaptation of episodes of the National Geographic series, ‘The Known Universe’, with Raycho Raychev as guest; the films ‘Pixel Y’, ‘Culinary Crimes’, ‘Salty People’, as well as a local production for ‘24Kitchen’. She also writes poetry, prose and drama.
