Three 17th-century Bulgarian bishops — diplomats, educators and bearers of the spirit of an unspoken Revival — set out from Bulgaria to the heart of Europe in an attempt to liberate their people. Today, their memory is revived by six contemporaries in Italy and Bulgaria.

IRENA DASKALOVA is a recipient of prestigious international awards for her fiction and documentary films. She has worked for 19 years as a screenwriter, director and producer. Sense of Belonging is her latest documentary, filmed over a year in Italy and Bulgaria. She frequently collaborates with cinematographer Rosen Daskalov.
